your own power

"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any."

Alice Walker

It's an easy trap to fall into.  Discouragement takes hold and we think, "what can I do about this thing that has happened to me?".  It is too difficult, there is no easy way out, I have run out of money, someone will persuade me to stop, and on and on goes the dialog.  It happens to everyone.

Hiking through Iceland I realized I had the power to climb higher.

Hiking through Iceland I realized I had the power to climb higher.

Now, let's change the dialog.  We say to ourselves, "it is difficult but I have in me the strength to find a solution," or, "let me think about this without fear but with the power to imagine other outcomes, other solutions and other options which I have not yet uncovered."  "Let me keep thinking about how to change things with my own power."  Because if you think it cannot be done, then you are correct.

I have had to change my thinking so many times to gain power over a situation.  We all have times which are overwhelming.  We also have, each day, the possibility to realize that our thoughts empower us.  There is an answer within you.  Remove fearful thinking, remove any idea that another will influence your outcome, because YOU and your thoughts can change things.  YOU have the power!
